Once a Yellowjacket, Always a Yellowjacket: HHS History Comes to Life

This week, our campus had the special privilege of hosting the Hilmar Historical Society during Jacket Time and lunch! Students had a unique opportunity to explore authentic memorabilia, photos, and artifacts from former Yellowjackets spanning generations of past history. Connecting today’s students with the rich tradition and legacy of Hilmar High reminds us all of the deep roots that make our Yellowjacket community so special!

Every Day Counts: Attendance Update

At Hilmar High School, our goal is a 96% attendance rate, because every day and every period counts! Currently, our overall school attendance rate stands at 96.33%—a huge shoutout to our 9th graders leading the pack at 96.91%, followed closely by 11th grade (96.60%), 12th grade (96.42%), and 10th grade (95.33%)! Being at school consistently gives students the best opportunity to learn, stay connected, and keep up with their classes. We know things come up, and we appreciate your support in helping your student be here and ready to learn each day. As a friendly reminder, there is no school for students this Monday due to a teacher in-service day, making it a great time to schedule appointments, run errands, and handle other tasks that are tough to fit in during the school week. Thank you for helping us keep our Yellowjackets learning, growing, and showing up strong!

Responsible. Resilient. College Ready.

AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is a college and career readiness program designed to equip students with essential organizational, study, and critical-thinking skills needed for higher education. To experience the excitement of university culture firsthand, last weekend, our AVID students headed to California State University, Fresno to cheer on the Bulldogs at a Fresno State football game! Being on campus for game day gave students a vivid taste of college spirit and campus life, helping inspire their own future academic goals. We are so proud of our AVID scholars for taking big steps toward their futures!

October 8th is Next Week!

October 8 is a big day! Only 40 schools will be selected as Division Finalists, with 10 schools from each region. Each finalist automatically receives $25,000. However, only the schools that advance from the round ending October 8 will move on to compete for the ultimate prizes, including the opportunity to win $1 million toward a home field upgrade.
This is about so much more than football. These funds could help create opportunities and improvements that benefit our athletes, students, youth sports, graduations, community events, and the many special moments we celebrate at McSweeny Field.
We need Hilmar to rally! Share photos, videos, and Reels that show what makes our community special: our Yellowjackets, Packers, cheer, band, youth sports, elementary and middle school activities, traditions, families, and all the moments that make us proud to call Hilmar home. Every post helps tell our story!
How to help:
Post from a public Instagram account and include all four:
  • @hhs_yellowjackets
  • @tmobile
  • #FN5GL
  • #Entry
Public feed posts and Reels qualify for entries. Stories do not, but sharing and resharing are always appreciated!
We have until October 8 to make the Top 40 and to enter the final round. Let’s rally together and show T-Mobile the heart, pride, and Jacket Way spirit of Hilmar!

We need your help to win $1,000,000 for Hilmar High through the T-Mobile Friday Night Lights 5G competition!

  • Friday Lunch Volunteers: We are looking for 1–2 parent volunteers each Friday through October (excluding Homecoming) from 11:40 AM to 12:22 PM to capture our students' green and gold spirit in front of our weekly FNL backdrop! Student lunch runs from 11:47 AM to 12:22 PM, so arriving at 11:40 AM gives you time to check in at the main office and grab the camera—we provide all the equipment, so we just need your time and energy. You'll get a front-row seat to see the fantastic backdrop masterpieces our students create each week! The photo station will be set up outside in the office patio area. Volunteers must sign up in advance by calling the main office.
