Good Afternoon Hilmar:
Congratulations to the Hilmar High School Cross Country teams. After a very strong year in the TVL in which both our boys and girls team finish first place at TVL finals and runners up in the league, Hilmar had their best performance in school history at the Sub-Section level qualifying 25 of 27 athletes to Sections.
At Sections, our runners excelled on a difficult course and was the smallest school competing in the both D4 varsity races. Both boys and girls team ranked in the top six of the Section by the end of the day.
The boys were led by Junior Jeffery Mendonca (placed 7th overall), who narrowly missed out on state by one ranking place. The rest of the team consisted of Braxton Belerique, Finley Harrison, Ryan Barcelos, Jesus Herrera, David and Marcos Morena. Also, Linkin Landron took fourth place overall in the sophomore division.
The girls were led by Sophomore Sidney Logsdon (5th overall) who qualified for her second consecutive CIF State appearance. The team consisted of Sophia Lopes, Violet Pinherio, Sarah Anderson, Sofia Belerique, Guadalupe Granados, and Emily Corona. As a team, they placed the highest in school history. Also, the JV girls placed 8th overall in the entire CIF Section.
Sidney will advanced to the state meet at Fresno on November 25th with the possibility to advance to the Regional Nationals on December 2nd. Thank you everyone for your continued support!
Great Job to the Cross Country teams and GO SIDNEY!!
