Building Tradition the Yellowjacket Way: Hands-On Homecoming Pride

Float building is a long-honored Hilmar tradition! All classes have officially kicked off homecoming season and are "taking on the world" with this year's theme.
There are so many ways to support—whether by folding paper, providing snacks and meals for the builders. As the saying goes, "Many hands make light work"—and having as many students helping out as possible makes the process easier, faster, and so much more fun!

Showing Responsibility The Jacket Way: Exceeding Our 96% Overall Attendance Goal!

We are one month into the school year, and Hilmar High School is off to a strong start with a 96.94% daily attendance average (707 of 730 students present daily from August 13 to September 11).
Attendance by Grade Level:
  • 9th: 97.62%
  • 10th: 95.75%
  • 11th: 97.10%
  • 12th: 97.29%
Every day and period matters for keeping students connected, on track, and successful. Please check in with your student about arriving on time. In particular, our 10th graders are trailing slightly behind their peers, and we want to ensure they stay on the path to success.

We Would Love to See You at Our First ELAC Meeting!

If you are a parent or guardian of an English Learner, we invite you to join us for our first ELAC meeting of the year on September 22nd at 3:15pm. This is a chance to meet with other families, learn about the support we provide for our English Learners, ask questions, and share your ideas. Last year, and continuing this year, we have been working hard to add supports that help our students build their English skills and reach reclassification. Reclassification means students have reached the level of English proficiency they need to be successful in all of their classes. It can also give students more choices in their schedules and more opportunities to take courses and participate in programs that can help prepare them for college, careers, and life after high school. Your voice matters, and we want to hear from you! We hope you can join us!

Responsible for Your Future: CSF Sign Ups

CSF (California Scholarship Federation) applications will be available in The NEST starting September 16. CSF is an academic honor organization that recognizes students for strong academic achievement, community involvement, and service. Being a CSF member is a great way for students to celebrate their hard work, get involved, and build a strong record for future college and scholarship opportunities. Encourage your student to stop by The NEST on or after September 16 to pick up an application and learn more!

Show Your School Pride: Parents and Families-Volunteer & Share Your Hilmar Story!

We need your help to win $1,000,000 for Hilmar High through the T-Mobile Friday Night Lights 5G competition!

  • Friday Lunch Volunteers: We are looking for 1–2 parent volunteers each Friday through October (excluding Homecoming) from 11:40 AM to 12:22 PM to capture our students' green and gold spirit in front of our weekly FNL backdrop! Student lunch runs from 11:47 AM to 12:22 PM, so arriving at 11:40 AM gives you time to check in at the main office and grab the camera—we provide all the equipment, so we just need your time and energy. You'll get a front-row seat to see the fantastic backdrop masterpieces our students create each week! The photo station will be set up outside in the office patio area. Volunteers must sign up in advance by calling the main office.

  • Tonight’s FNL Pop-Up Station: Heading to tonight's game? Look for our pop-up station to share your memories and love for Hilmar High! Whether you are brand new to the community or your family has been Yellowjackets for generations, we want to hear what makes Hilmar so special to you as we put together our contest video.
